United Way of Chelsea is a locally run chapter of the United Way Worldwide. A volunteer board of directors oversees our strategic direction and steers our financial decisions.
We support six member agencies, and we review them each year to ensure they do the best possible work in the community. We focus our support on agencies that provide:

  • Food/clothing
  • Healthcare
  • Transportation
  • Senior and youth support

The United Way of Chelsea contributes more than 90% of its donations to its member agencies.

More than 35% of our donations come from direct donations from individuals in our community, and 65% of the donations come from local businesses, either through campaigns that they run for us or direct donations.

About United Way Worldwide

United Way Worldwide includes approximately 1,350 community-based United Way organizations. Each is independent, separately incorporated and governed by local volunteers.

Mission and Vision

The mission of the United Way of Chelsea is to effectuate and to consolidate fund raising for those health, welfare, character building, and recreational agencies which shall be approved by the board of directors of the United Way of Chelsea. It is also to secure and provide funds for the maintenance and operations of such agencies; to extend assistance in the coordination of the work of the various agencies; and to aid in the planning and development of a general social welfare program which shall best fulfill the health, welfare, character building, and recreational needs of the area.
